They leave tomorrow at 8:00 am their time for Catechesis. They have a 3 hour walk tomorrow to the location for the adoration and the vigil. They will stay overnight and celebrate the closing mass tomorrow. They had an amazing day today. The stations of the cross was an experience of a lifetime. They were very emotional at the Pope's blessing. Veronica said that she had all the parents on her mind when he did the blessing and prayed for us back home.   God Bless

Stations of the Cross

Today they are doing their catechesis in the day. They have some time for shopping and such afterwards and then they are all headed to the Stations of the Cross, a very big and spiritual event of WYD. I was told that the group is really starting to come together on a more spiritual level. Transportation is a real challenge and consumes a lot of time due to the sheer volume of pilgrims so proper planning is vital. They are enjoying great food and seeing the sights when possible. Tomorrow evening is adoration and the vigil to the closing mass. This is where they will sleep amongst the other pilgrims. This is a very emotional and special time to be with so many like minded youth. You can call it one heck of a slumber party! This is just a brief update and she was on the run giving me the update so I couldn't get any room numbers. If any of you know please share. I don't even know my wife's room number.  God Bless!

No Real Update

My wife called and they were at a computer. Mary spoke with me to inquire how to post to the blog. I explained however, I might not have sufficiently explained it because as I can see there is no post and she was going to send something right then. Veronica really couldn't say much so I really don't know much. I asked if they saw the Pope and she said yes. I wish I knew the room numbers so that we could call the rooms to visit. I will try to inquire on that for us if I can speak to them. The connection isn't really that terrific and I usually get a call when there are approx 1.5 million people around here so I am sure that the explanation isn't exactly spot on. God Bless you all.

1st day of Catechesis

Bishop Smith from Canada was their catechist today. They were in the church St Francisco de Goya. The group is holding up well. It is now 5:45 pm and they are heading back to their hotel. They are excited for the arrival of the Pope tomorrow and his welcoming ceremony. They are aware of the protests planed for tonight and tomorrow and they know to stay away from those areas.

Last night they ate great Italian food... I know right.. they are in Spain!.. but they enjoyed it. This morning I received a call at 4:38am which is 1:38pm there. They are headed out to El Prado Museum to be closer to the location of the opening Mass. Lots of pilgrims and lots of flags from all over the world. They will be wearing their FLORESCENT GREEN shirts today. You definitely can’t miss them! The opening mass is at 11:00 am our time on EWTN.

Toledo Spain

Today they went to Toledo Spain and toured this historic town. The diocese of Toledo has been paired up with the diocese of San Bernardino to share in WYD. There was a delay in our WYD participants receiving their Madrid travel passes and WYD backpacks, however they did get a confirmation today that the hotel was in receipt of them when they get back to Madrid. I was told that the kids are holding up great and that they are very patient. What a fantastic group we have representing us.
Tomorrow they are going to the WYD opening mass to begin this week of catechesis.  God Bless and Ill post something tomorrow night. I’m going to Disneyland & Club 33 with Vanessa tomorrow for her 15th birthday. Have a Blessed Evening.
